Description

This rich and indulgent Turtle Pie combines a buttery graham cracker crust with layers of smooth caramel, crunchy pecans, and a luscious chocolate topping. Perfectly chilled and drizzled with extra caramel, this dessert is a crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Filling

  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Topping

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (for drizzling)
  • Additional pecans for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust: Combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar in a bowl until the mixture resembles wet sand, then press it firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish. Chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to set.
  2. Add the Caramel Layer: Evenly spread 1 cup of caramel sauce over the chilled crust, then sprinkle the chopped pecans on top. Return to the refrigerator to chill for another 10-15 minutes to allow it to firm up.
  3. Make the Chocolate Topping: In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the semi-sweet chocolate chips and heavy cream in 20-second intervals, stirring after each until the mixture is smooth and glossy. Let the mixture cool slightly to thicken.
  4. Assemble the Pie: Pour the chocolate mixture over the caramel and pecan layer, spreading it evenly.
  5. Drizzle and Garnish: Drizzle the remaining 1/4 cup caramel sauce over the chocolate layer and sprinkle additional pecans on top for garnish.
  6. Chill: Refrigerate the assembled pie for at least 2 hours, or until fully set and firm to the touch.
  7. Serve: Slice and serve the Turtle Pie chilled. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • Use good quality caramel sauce for best flavor.
  • To make homemade caramel sauce, cook sugar with butter and cream until thickened.
  • Be careful not to overheat the chocolate mixture to avoid burning.
  • If you prefer a crisper crust, bake the graham cracker crust at 350°F for 8 minutes before chilling.
  • This pie is best served chilled but can be left at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before serving for easier slicing.
  • Store leftover pie covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
