Description

Indulge in the rich, moist goodness of Tres Leches Cake, a classic Mexican dessert soaked in three types of milk and topped with airy whipped cream. This easy-to-follow recipe will guide you through creating a decadent treat that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Cake:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 5 large eggs, separated
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
  • ⅓ cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Milk Mixture:

  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
  • ½ cup whole milk or heavy cream

Whipped Topping:

  • 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the batter: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks and sugar, then add milk and vanilla. Fold in dry ingredients. In another bowl, beat egg whites with sugar, then fold into batter. Bake for 25–30 minutes.
  2. Soak the cake: Mix condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk. Poke holes in the cake and pour the milk mixture over it. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  3. Make the whipped topping and serve: Beat cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Spread over the chilled cake and serve.
