Description

This Tater Tot Casserole is a comforting and satisfying dish that the whole family will love. Layers of seasoned ground beef, vegetables, creamy sauce, and crispy tater tots, all topped with melted cheese, make for a delicious and easy weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Casserole:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots

For Garnish:

  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until browned. Add garlic and cook for another minute. Drain excess grease.
  3. Combine ingredients: Stir in cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, mixed vegetables, salt, and pepper. Cook until warmed through. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Assemble the casserole: Spread the beef mixture in the baking dish. Arrange tater tots in a single layer over the top.
  5. Bake: Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until tots are golden. Sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese over the top and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Serve: Let rest before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
  • For a crispier topping, broil the casserole for the last 2–3 minutes.
  • This is a great make-ahead meal and freezer-friendly.
