Description
A light and refreshing Strawberry Mousse made with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and gelatin. Perfect for a delicate dessert that’s both creamy and fruity, with a smooth texture and natural sweetness.
Ingredients
Scale
Strawberry Mixture
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
Cream Mixture
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Gelatin
- 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin powder
- 3 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Prepare Strawberry Puree: Blend the fresh hulled strawberries until smooth to create a fresh strawberry puree. Mix the puree with granulated sugar and let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the sugar to dissolve.
- Whip Cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with the vanilla extract until soft peaks form for a light, fluffy texture that will give the mousse its characteristic creaminess.
- Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the strawberry puree into the whipped cream mixture, being careful to retain the airiness of the whipped cream, which helps keep the mousse light and airy.
- Prepare Gelatin: Dissolve the unflavored gelatin powder in warm water, stirring until fully dissolved. Allow the gelatin to cool slightly to prevent curdling the mousse when added.
- Incorporate Gelatin: Slowly mix the slightly cooled gelatin into the combined mousse mixture, ensuring an even distribution to help it set properly.
- Chill to Set: Pour the mousse mixture into serving glasses or bowls and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until fully set for optimal texture and firmness before serving.
Notes
- Adjust sugar quantity to your preferred sweetness or depending on the natural sweetness of your strawberries.
- Gelatin can be substituted with agar-agar for a vegetarian alternative.
- Make sure the gelatin is cool before mixing into the mousse to avoid lumps.
- For best results, use fresh, ripe strawberries.
- Serve chilled, and optionally garnish with fresh strawberry slices or mint leaves for presentation.
