Description

Delightful and easy-to-make Strawberry Cake Balls combine moist strawberry cake crumbs with creamy strawberry frosting, dipped in smooth white chocolate and decorated with festive sprinkles. Perfect as a no-bake dessert treat for parties or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Cake

  • 1 box strawberry cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water

Coating & Decoration

  • 1/2 cup strawberry frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate or white candy melts
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother coating)
  • Pink or red sprinkles for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the strawberry cake mix according to the package directions, combining the eggs, vegetable oil, and water thoroughly. Pour the batter into a 9×13-inch baking pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 25–30 minutes. Allow the cake to cool completely before proceeding.
  2. Crumble the Cake: Once cooled, crumble the cake into fine crumbs using your hands or a fork in a large mixing bowl. Add the strawberry frosting to the crumbs, mixing well until the mixture forms a dough-like consistency that holds together when pressed.
  3. Form Cake Balls: Scoop small portions of the mixture and roll into 1-inch balls using your hands. Place them evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Chill them in the refrigerator or freezer for 20 to 30 minutes to firm up.
  4. Melt the Coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate or candy melts in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth. For a thinner, smoother coating, stir in 1 tablespoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening if desired.
  5. Dip and Decorate: Using a fork or toothpick, dip each chilled cake ball into the melted white chocolate, allowing excess coating to drip off. Place the dipped cake balls back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. Immediately decorate with pink or red sprinkles if using.
  6. Set the Coating: Allow the coating to set by leaving the cake balls at room temperature or refrigerating them until firm, about 15–30 minutes. Once set, they are ready to serve or store.

Notes

  • You can use homemade strawberry cake and frosting if preferred for a more personalized flavor.
  • If the cake mixture feels too dry and crumbly, add additional frosting a tablespoon at a time until it holds together well.
  • Store the finished cake balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • For longer storage, freeze the cake balls, and thaw before serving.
