Description

A quick and flavorful Spicy Jalapeño Chicken Stir-Fry that’s better than takeout and ready in just 20 minutes. This vibrant dish features tender chicken, crisp vegetables, and a spicy kick from fresh jalapeños, all coated in a savory soy and oyster sauce blend.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken & Marinade

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Vegetables

  • 2 jalapeños, sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced

Sauces & Oils

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp honey

Optional Garnish

  • Sliced green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Heat oil: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, preparing the pan for cooking the chicken.
  2. Cook chicken: Add the thinly sliced chicken to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Stir-fry the chicken until it is cooked through and no longer pink inside, about 5-6 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté aromatics: In the same skillet, add sesame oil along with minced garlic and ginger. Sauté these aromatics for about 1 minute until fragrant, which builds the base flavor for the stir-fry.
  4. Cook vegetables: Add sliced jalapeños, red bell pepper, and broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender, maintaining their vibrant color and crunch.
  5. Combine chicken and vegetables: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the vegetables.
  6. Add sauces and honey: Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and honey. Toss everything thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are evenly coated, and heat through for another 2 minutes to meld the flavors.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve the stir-fry hot alongside steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For less heat, remove seeds from jalapeños before slicing.
  • Use a wok if available for better heat distribution during stir-frying.
  • Adjust honey amount to balance the spice level according to personal taste.
  • This dish pairs well with jasmine rice or chow mein noodles.
  • To make it gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari.
