Ingredients
Scale
Fries
- 2 large russet potatoes, cut into thin fries
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Spicy Garlic Sesame Sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon sriracha or chili garlic sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
Garnish
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- Optional: chopped cilantro or extra chili flakes for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the fries: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Toss the cut potatoes with 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Spread them evenly in a single layer on the baking sheet.
- Bake the fries: Place the fries in the oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, flipping halfway through to ensure even crispiness and golden brown texture.
- Make the sauce: While the fries bake, heat the remaining tablespoon of sesame oil in a small pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Stir in the sriracha, soy sauce, and rice vinegar, then remove the pan from heat.
- Toss fries in sauce: Once the fries are done, transfer them to a large bowl. Drizzle the spicy garlic sesame sauce over the fries and toss gently to coat each fry evenly with the sauce.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions on top. Add optional chopped cilantro or extra chili flakes if desired. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
- For extra crispy fries, soak the cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before baking, then dry them thoroughly.
- You can also cook these fries in an air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for about 20 minutes, shaking halfway through.
- Adjust the amount of sriracha according to your preferred spice level.
- These fries are best enjoyed fresh to maintain their crispiness.
