- 1/4 cup honey
For Honey Butter:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons honey
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and 1/4 cup honey until combined. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Frying: Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F. Drop batter by rounded tablespoons into hot oil and fry for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Honey Butter: Beat softened butter with 2 tablespoons honey until smooth and fluffy. Serve cornbread poppers warm with honey butter and extra honey drizzle if desired.

- For a savory-sweet twist, add shredded cheddar cheese or chopped jalapeños to the batter before frying.
- Best enjoyed fresh but can be kept warm in a 200°F oven until serving.
