Instructions
- Cook the Okra: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced okra and cook 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the okra softens and its sliminess decreases.
- Add Vegetables: Stir in chopped onion and bell pepper. Cook for about 4 minutes until they are softened.
- Garlic Infusion: Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds more, just until fragrant.
- Create the Sauce: Pour in diced tomatoes, chicken broth, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper (if using), and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine all flavors.
- Simmer the Mixture: Allow the mixture to simmer uncovered for 10 minutes, letting it thicken slightly.
- Add the Shrimp: Add the raw shrimp to the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through.
- Finish and Garnish: Stir in the lemon juice and sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top before serving.
