Description

This Sausage, Gravy, & Biscuit Pie is a delicious and comforting dish that combines the flavors of a classic Southern breakfast in a convenient pie format. Perfect for a cozy brunch or breakfast gathering, this savory pie will surely impress your guests with its layers of flaky biscuits, creamy sausage gravy, and gooey cheese topping.

Ingredients

Scale

    Sausage Gravy:

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Biscuit Layer:

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Chopped chives or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish or deep-dish skillet.
  2. Cook the sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled. Do not drain. Sprinkle flour over the sausage and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  3. Make the gravy: Slowly whisk in the milk, stirring until the mixture thickens into a creamy gravy. Add black pepper, salt, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Remove from heat.
  4. Assemble the pie: Pour the sausage gravy into the prepared dish, place raw biscuits on top, overlapping if needed. Add cheese if desired.
  5. Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes until biscuits are golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chives or parsley.

Notes

  • You can prepare the sausage gravy in advance and assemble the pie just before baking.
  • For a homemade touch, consider using from-scratch biscuit dough for the pie.
  • This dish pairs well with eggs or a simple fruit salad for a complete breakfast or brunch spread.
