Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- ½ cup diced onions
- ½ cup chopped green peppers
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
Cheese Sauce Mixture
- 1 cup nacho cheese sauce
- 1 can (10 oz) Rotel (green chilis with diced tomatoes)
Wrap Components
- 4 flour tortilla wraps
- ½ cup sour cream
- Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos, crushed (approximately 1 cup)
- Shredded lettuce (for serving)
Instructions
- Brown the Beef: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the lean ground beef. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and no longer pink. Drain any excess fat to keep the wrap from being greasy.
- Sauté Vegetables: Add the diced onions and chopped green peppers to the beef in the skillet. Sauté for about 4 minutes until the vegetables are softened and fragrant.
- Season the Meat: Sprinkle in the taco seasoning packet and stir well to evenly coat the beef and vegetables. Continue cooking for another minute to allow the flavors to meld.
- Prepare Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, combine the Rotel (green chilis with diced tomatoes) and the nacho cheese sauce. Mix thoroughly to create a creamy, flavorful cheese sauce with a hint of spice.
- Assemble the Wraps: Lay the four large flour tortillas flat on a clean surface. Spoon a layer of the nacho cheese mixture down the center of each tortilla, spreading it lengthwise.
- Add Fillings: On top of the cheese layer, add the seasoned beef mixture. Then dollop sour cream, scatter additional onions and peppers if desired, and sprinkle generous crushed Nacho Cheese Doritos for crunch.
- Roll the Wraps: Fold in the sides of each tortilla and roll them up tightly from one end to the other, similar to rolling a burrito, to secure all fillings inside.
- Toast the Wraps: Heat a clean skillet over medium heat. Place each wrap seam-side down in the skillet and cook until the tortilla is crispy and golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side, turning carefully to toast both sides evenly.
- Serve: Remove the wraps from the skillet and serve immediately, accompanied by shredded lettuce and any additional preferred toppings such as salsa or guacamole.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease and maintain a healthier wrap.
- Flour tortillas work best for wrapping and toasting without breaking, but whole wheat can be substituted for added fiber.
- Adjust the level of spiciness by selecting mild or hot Rotel depending on your preference.
- Crush the Doritos just before assembling to keep their crunch fresh.
- This recipe can be doubled for a larger group and kept warm in a low oven if needed.
- For a vegetarian version, substitute the beef with seasoned cooked beans or plant-based ground meat.
