Lemon Sauce:
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 cup hot water
Instructions
- Preheat and Melt Butter: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the unsalted butter in a 9×9-inch baking dish and let it melt in the preheating oven.
- Mix Batter: In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, 3/4 cup sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and lemon zest. Mix until smooth.
- Pour Batter: Once the butter is melted, remove the dish and pour the batter evenly over the butter without stirring.
- Prepare Lemon Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix 1/4 cup sugar, lemon juice, and hot water. Carefully pour this mixture over the batter in the dish without stirring.
- Bake: Bake for 40–45 minutes until the top is golden and the cobbler is set with a lemon layer underneath.
- Serve: Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving.
