  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Topping:

  • 24 chocolate kiss candies, unwrapped
  • Extra granulated sugar, for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add egg and vanilla: Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until fully combined.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  6. Shape and bake: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll them into balls, coat in granulated sugar, and place on baking sheets. Bake for 8–10 minutes.
  7. Add chocolate kisses: Press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie immediately after baking.
  8. Cool and serve: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
