Ingredients
Scale
For the Chicken:
- 1 lb Boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 1 cup Buttermilk (for marinating)
- 1 cup All-purpose flour (for coating)
- 1 tbsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Salt (to taste)
- 1 tsp Black pepper (to taste)
- 2 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Biscuits:
- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp Baking powder
- 1 tsp Baking soda
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 cup Cold unsalted butter (cut into cubes)
- 3/4 cup Buttermilk
For the Hot Honey:
- 1/2 cup Honey
- 1 tsp Red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
- 1 pinch Salt
Instructions
- Marinate and Prepare Chicken: Marinate the chicken thighs in buttermilk for at least 1 hour to tenderize and flavor the meat.
- Mix Coating: In a bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper thoroughly.
- Dredge the Chicken: Remove chicken from marinade and coat each piece well with the seasoned flour mixture.
- Fry the Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the chicken for 6-8 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Make the Biscuits: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add Buttermilk: Stir in the buttermilk gently until the dough just comes together without overmixing.
- Bake Biscuits: Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough onto a baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 12-15 minutes or until golden and fluffy.
- Prepare Hot Honey: In a small bowl, mix together honey, red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of salt to create the hot honey drizzle.
- Serve: Plate the fried chicken alongside the warm biscuits. Drizzle the spicy hot honey over the chicken and biscuits to serve.
Notes
- Marinating the chicken longer than 1 hour can increase tenderness and flavor.
- Adjust red pepper flakes in hot honey to your preferred spice level.
- Use a thermometer to ensure oil is around 350°F for optimal frying.
- Biscuits are best served fresh and warm for maximum flakiness.
- Leftover hot honey can be refrigerated and warmed before use.
