Ingredients
Scale
Bread and Cheese Mixture
- 1 loaf of bread dough
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Roasted Garlic
- 1 head of garlic
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (divided use)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for roasting the garlic and baking the bread.
- Roast the Garlic: Cut the top off the head of garlic to expose the cloves, drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, then wrap tightly in foil. Roast in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the garlic is soft and fragrant.
- Prepare the Bread Dough: While the garlic roasts, cut the loaf of bread dough into smaller pieces suitable for stuffing and bundling.
- Mash the Roasted Garlic: Remove the roasted garlic from the foil and let cool slightly. Squeeze the softened garlic cloves out of their skins into a bowl and mash them thoroughly to form a smooth paste.
- Combine Cheese Mixture: Mix the roasted garlic paste with the shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, fresh thyme, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Stuff the Dough: Fill each piece of bread dough with the cheese and garlic mixture, ensuring the filling is well enclosed within the dough portions.
- Arrange and Drizzle: Place all the stuffed dough pieces into a bundt pan, packing them together snugly. Drizzle the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the top for extra moisture and flavor.
- Bake: Bake in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the bread to cool slightly in the pan before removing. Serve warm, pulling apart pieces to enjoy the cheesy, garlicky goodness.
Notes
- Use fresh bread dough that is soft and pliable for best results when stuffing.
- Roasted garlic can be prepared a day ahead and refrigerated to save time.
- A bundt pan helps create the signature pull-apart shape and ensures even baking.
- For a crispier top, bake an additional 5 minutes at the end and watch carefully to avoid burning.
- Serve with marinara or herb butter for added flavor options.
