Frosting:

  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Prepare the cake batter: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add softened butter and mix until crumbly. Beat in eggs one at a time, then buttermilk and vanilla. Stir in ½ cup caramel sauce.
  3. Bake the cakes: Divide batter into pans and bake for 30–35 minutes. Cool in pans, then transfer to wire racks.
