Description

These Colorful Jello Cookies are a vibrant and fruity twist on classic sugar cookies, featuring six different fruity Jello flavors mixed into the dough for a fun and colorful treat perfect for any occasion. Soft, chewy, and visually appealing, these cookies bring a playful burst of flavor and color that everyone will enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1 box Sugar Cookie Mix (homemade sugar cookie batter can be used)
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (at room temperature)
  • 1 large Egg

Jello Flavors

  • 1 box Cherry or Strawberry Jello
  • 1 box Orange Jello
  • 1 box Lemon Jello
  • 1 box Lime Jello
  • 1 box Berry Blue Jello
  • 1 box Grape Jello

For Coating

  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar (for rolling dough balls)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your cookie sheets with parchment paper to ensure easy removal and prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Dough: In a large mixing bowl, follow the instructions on the sugar cookie mix package to prepare the dough until it is smooth and slightly sticky.
  3. Divide and Color Dough: Divide the dough evenly into six portions. Stir one different box of Jello powder into each portion until the dough is vibrantly colored and evenly mixed.
  4. Form Dough Balls: Roll each colored dough portion into 1-inch diameter balls. Then coat each dough ball evenly by rolling it in the granulated sugar to add a sweet, sparkling crust.
  5. Arrange and Bake: Place the sugar-coated dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading. Bake them in the preheated oven for 11 to 13 minutes or until the edges turn a light golden brown.
  6. Cool Cookies: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes to set before transferring them to a wire rack. Allow them to cool completely to finish firming up and to enjoy at the perfect texture.

Notes

  • You can substitute the store-bought sugar cookie mix with homemade sugar cookie dough if preferred for more control over ingredients.
  • Feel free to experiment by mixing double Jello flavors for unique color blends.
  • Make sure the butter is at room temperature to ensure the dough mixes properly.
  • Do not overbake; cookies should remain soft and chewy inside.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness for up to 5 days.
