Instructions

  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry mixture. Mix until just combined. If using chocolate chips, fold them into the batter.
