Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Pastry
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Oven and Baking Sheet: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Make the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the cooked shredded chicken, mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Roll Out Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet gently. Cut the pastry into 4 equal rectangles, which will serve as the bases for the rolls.
- Fill and Roll Pastry: Spoon the chicken and cheese mixture along one long edge of each pastry rectangle. Carefully roll the pastry tightly over the filling, sealing the edge to prevent leakage during baking.
- Place Rolls on Baking Sheet: Position the rolled pastries seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet to keep them intact while baking.
- Apply Egg Wash and Garnish: Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg to achieve a beautiful golden-brown finish. Optionally, sprinkle chopped parsley on top for added color and flavor.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 18–20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving to enjoy their full flavor and to avoid burns.
Notes
- Use rotisserie chicken for a quick and flavorful shortcut.
- Add chopped jalapeños or sun-dried tomatoes to the filling for an extra kick of flavor.
- Serve with honey mustard or ranch dipping sauce for added taste.
