Ingredients
Scale
Cauliflower Steaks
- 1 large head of cauliflower
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley or lemon wedges for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for roasting.
- Prepare Cauliflower: Remove the leaves from the cauliflower and trim the stem while leaving the core intact to help keep the steaks together.
- Slice Cauliflower: Cut the cauliflower into ¾-inch thick steaks, usually yielding 2 to 3 full slices per head. Extra florets that fall off can be saved for another use.
- Mix Seasoning: In a small bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, salt, and pepper to create a flavorful brush-on seasoning.
- Season Steaks: Brush both sides of each cauliflower steak thoroughly with the seasoned olive oil mixture ensuring they are well coated.
- Roast: Place the steaks on the prepared baking sheet and roast in the oven for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the steaks are golden brown and tender inside.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh chopped parsley or a squeeze of lemon juice for added brightness, and serve as a main dish or hearty side.
Notes
- Serve as a main dish accompanied by grains or a sauce such as chimichurri for added flavor.
- The steaks can alternatively be grilled over medium heat for 5–7 minutes per side for a smoky char.
